Neverland
This collection is inspired by the original idea of Neverland which originated in J.M Barrie’s 1904 play titled “Peter Pan, The Boy Who Wouldn’t Grow Up.” This concept has been developed into various movies, shows, and plays through the decades, which shows that the idea of never growing up and running away to a dream land where time never passes, is still an appealing idea no matter the decade. The protagonist of this story is Wendy Darling, who is the muse of this collection, and her story starts with her fear of entering womanhood and her telling stories to her brothers of land where they can stay kids forever. Wendy does not want to enter the world of responsibility and reality and instead flies to Neverland to live in a daydream, which many can relate to. My intent with this collection is to encompass the dreamy and whimsical nature of the physical and abstract idea of neverland.
